SPARK

SPARK workshops emerged from a simple truth: technical execution alone doesn't create transformative hair artistry. When we focus exclusively on methods and formulas, we miss the deeper creative potential that lives between our vision, our movement, and our understanding of fundamental artistic principles.

These focused 1.5-day immersions were designed to illuminate specific elements of artistry that conventional education often leaves in shadow. With just four participants per workshop, we create a laboratory for genuine exploration where everyone serves as both student and witness to each other's discoveries.

Beyond Traditional Hair Education

The art of hair design requires constant evolution, demanding that stylists not only master technical foundations but continuously push creative boundaries. SPARK workshops cultivate a unique atmosphere where established professionals can safely explore new perspectives within their craft.

What distinguishes SPARK from other educational offerings is its microfocus. Each workshop isolates specific conceptual elements while maintaining connections to stylists' complete artistic development.

Rather than attempting to revolutionize an entire approach in a single session, these workshops create targeted breakthroughs that integrate seamlessly into existing practices. This specialized format acknowledges that evolution can happen incrementally through focused exploration of individual elements.

Forget Carbon Copies

SPARK workshops reject the demonstration-replication model that dominates our industry. Instead, they embrace what educators in Reggio Emilia pedagogy call "the hundred languages” which is the belief that we understand and express our knowledge in multiple ways beyond verbal instruction or technical demonstration.

SPARK also embraces the role of the environment as the third teacher. The collaborative nature of these workshops creates an environment where participants learn not only from the instructor but through witnessing their peers' discoveries. As stylists experiment with new approaches, unexpected innovations emerge from this collective exploration, often yielding insights that transcend the workshop's original intent. This dynamic atmosphere nurtures both technical growth and creative confidence, empowering stylists to trust their artistic instincts.

2025 Spark Workshops

Geometric Forms & Artistic Shapes

Discover how pure geometric shapes form the foundation of all cutting, regardless of trend or technique. Participants engage in the visualization and execution of pure geometric forms (circles, triangles, squares) across diverse hair, emphasizing how these foundational shapes behave differently when applied to straight, wavy, curly, and tight curly patterns. This workshop transforms how you perceive the foundational architecture of hair.

Through hands-on practice with various hair types, you'll establish strong geometric foundations, adapting angles, tension, and elevation to maintain shape integrity across different densities and patterns. You'll develop a universal design language that transcends traditional cutting terminology, allowing for more precise communication and execution in your everyday work. When a stylist tells me, "I can't unsee shapes now when I look at hair," I know transformation has begun”.

Upcoming Dates: June 22nd & 23rd, 2025
Location: Nourish Atelier | Peachtree City, GA

The Language Of Color

Elevate color from technical formula to emotional storytelling. This workshop develops color as a powerful communication tool with both emotional and visual impact. You'll analyze color relationships in paintings and visual art, then translate these principles directly to hair formulation and placement.

Through color mixing exercises, you'll create custom colors and signature palettes that tell coherent visual stories. Moving beyond formulaic approaches, you'll learn intentional placement strategies that enhance shape and movement. The result: personalized color approaches that resonate emotionally and visually with your clients.

Investment: $1200
Upcoming Dates: July 20th & 21st, 2025
Location: Nourish Atelier | Peachtree City, GA

Negative Space & Defining Lines: The Art of Removal

Transform your cutting approach by focusing on what isn't there rather than what is. This workshop introduces the concept of negative space, identifying precisely where weight should be absent, rather than where it should remain. This sculptural mindset treats the air between hair sections as an active design element, elevating standard cutting techniques through conceptual innovation that respects hair’s natural tendencies.

Through intensive hands-on cutting sessions, you'll learn how classic techniques can be repurposed to carve away weight with intention, creating interior movement that respects each texture's natural tendencies. You'll explore perimeter delineation from 0 to 360 degrees across all hair, establishing clean, intentional boundaries that serve as the foundation for interior negative space.

The result is a sculptural approach to cutting where the "air" between hair sections becomes an active design element, not just empty space—elevating traditional techniques through conceptual innovation.

Investment: $1200
Upcoming Dates: September 14th & 15th, 2025
Location: Nourish Atelier | Peachtree City, GA

Balanced Tension

Elevate asymmetrical/radial symmetry and disconnected shapes from trend-based techniques to sophisticated design principles. This workshop develops your ability to create visual tension through purposeful imbalance, with precise technical execution that makes asymmetry feel intentional rather than accidental.

Through multiple collage & cutting exercises, you'll identify and manipulate visual weight distribution, creating focal points that guide the eye. You'll explore varied disconnection techniques, understanding the structural principles that maintain integrity while visually separating elements of a design.

By workshop's end, you'll possess both the technical precision and design confidence to break traditional rules with purpose and artistic control.
